Biography

Biography

Hey guys, my name is William Sharkey, though its alright to call me Billy. I am from Boston, Massachusetts and I am a poker player. The stakes and variations of poker I primarily play are $5-10 No limit Texas Hold’em, $5-10 PLO online, and No Limit Hold em’ tournaments live and online.
I have to thank the game of poker for affording me the luxury of living a very content and exciting life. Playing poker, however, is not the only thing I want to do with my life. Still it seems that poker has an influence on things I like to do even away from the table. I have begun writing a fiction novel with a poker player as the main character and I currently do a video blog on you tube and GreedyGamble.com called Confessions of a Not So Professional Poker Player. With my blog and my novel I am attempting to combine my love for the game of poker and all the impacts it has on a player’s life with my desire to entertain others and show them what it is really like to be inside the mind of a poker player. I hope you enjoy my video blog and I look forward to your feedback and constructive criticism.

Thank you and good luck with everything you do.
Billy

It’s been a while… Here’s why.

It’s been awhile…

After a grueling May grinding so hard and getting pooped on, I decided to go on hiatus. Putting in the most MTT volume I have ever done and not getting the score was beyond discouraging. Not to mention I’m at the bottom of the GG leader board. So I took a break, no big deal. I spent my days trying to occupy myself with other things besides poker, started watching this show called Breaking Bad, with Bryan Cranston (Dad from Malcom in the Middle) it’s unreal, and I ripped through 3 seasons. I also devoted some long hours to grinding for exams. Additionally, I had some grueling workouts in the gym. Finally, I have begun to teach myself the guitar with a little help from youtube. All these things were an attempt to devoid myself of the negativities that come along (unwelcomed guests) with a downswing.

BUT NOW… I’m back, refocused. I decided that I was getting killed in the MTT’s, which is obvious because of the variance; however, I was unable to cope with this. I have strategically repositioned myself by focusing on my bread and butter (SNG’s) and mixing in some of my favourite MTT’s as opposed to my strategy of May which was to play all the MTT’s and mix in SNG’s. Good results thus far (knock on wood).

See you guys on the felt.

New GreedyGamble Member: Billy!

Billy Sharkey came across Leroy’s intro video on youtube and then decided to contact me as to possibly joining GreeyGamble.com. He gave me a link to his channel on youtube and I was instantly hooked to his videos. Billy has a talent for telling interesting stories about his poker life and situations with Video Blogs. I felt like I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to add him to the website.

Please feel free to check out his intro video and biography for more information on Billy.

Ecoop = No success

Ecoop = No success

Played like 3 tournies the whole week, all ECOOPs.

the $320 6-max, bubbled.

$109rebuy, Bubbled.

$1580 Main Event lost KK to KQo

Pretty brutal. The hand I went out on in the Main Event, I had KK early position, hijack flats. Flop comes Qc,Jh,4h two hearts. I bet, he raised. At this point I’m thinking he may have QJ, JJ, QQ, AQ. Possibly a semi bluff with KTs or a two heart combination, I really didn’t think so though.

I figured either he had a set or AQ.

I figured there are 16 combinations of AQ, and 6 combinations of JJ, QQ, 44 each, though minus some because some of those cards are already in play.

Either way I figured at the time it was a 50/50 chance that I might be ahead or way behind, plus you throw in the times he’s straight out bluffing, semi-bluffing, or is over valuing KQo. I also figured he’d more likely reraise with QQ than flat, and reraise sometimes with JJ. He also sometimes has QJs in this spot. Either way it came down to my chip stack for me. I had roughly 40 bb and maybe 25-30bb after I raised preflop and Cbet the flop. I didn’t feel like folding for a 25-33%+ chip up so I decided to shove over his raise to my C-bet.

Turns out he had the lower end of his range with KQo.

We’re all-in and he catches a Qh, so I had a flushdraw and K for a full house for outs. I blank on the river and get knocked out of the Ecoop Main event.

Sigh.

Month of May – Leroy Wins!

Month of May – Leroy Wins!

For the last week of May the money counts as follows:

Adam: -1844

AJ: -1198

Leroy: -1693

Masaki: -4314

It was a disaster week for everyone.

Overall for the month:

Leroy: +11433
Adam: -2312
AJ: -1129
Masaki: +8795

At the beginning of the month Masaki was ahead with a almost 17k week, but quickly Leroy caught up in weeks 2-3 and it was a close race for the final. Masaki ended up having a big down swing finishing himself off.

Congrats Leroy on an excellent month!
